Watching my kid's favorite YouTuber apologize made me see the whole game

Last month, my 9 year old was upset because his favorite gaming streamer got caught lying. We watched the 'sorry' video together and I pointed out how the guy kept saying 'if I hurt anyone' instead of 'I hurt people'. My kid got it instantly and said 'so he's not really sorry, he's just doing a video'. Has anyone else had to explain this stuff to their children?

I saw a video break down of a big apology from a streamer last year. They counted how many times he said "mistakes were made" instead of "I made mistakes". It's like a script they all use now, right?

Notice how @paige_robinson24 mentioned that script, it makes me wonder if these creators are coached by the same PR people. That would explain why all their apologies sound so fake and follow the same pattern. It's a real shame they can't just be honest with their young fans.

Ugh, my friend's PR firm gave her that exact script.
