I finally caught a celebrity rumor that was 100% false and it felt wild
Last Tuesday I saw a post claiming Taylor Swift secretly bought a castle in Scotland for $12 million, but then I found an article from a local paper saying the seller never even heard of her. Turned out the whole thing was made up by a fan site to get clicks, and I spent an hour digging through real estate records to prove it. Do you guys usually fact-check these wild stories or just let them slide because they're fun to believe?

Who needs sleep when you can spend an hour proving a castle rumor wrong, right?

Oh man, that hits close to home. Just last week I spent THREE hours digging through old court records online because some guy on a genealogy forum claimed a local historical society made up a story about an ancestor of mine. Turns out the rumor was half true and the records were just written in terrible handwriting. I was so fired up I didn't even realize it was 2 AM until my cat started yelling at me for food. But honestly, proving people wrong feels better than sleep sometimes. You learn all sorts of weird stuff when you go down those rabbit holes.

That thing about "proving people wrong feels better than sleep" really got me. I did something similar a few months back where someone claimed a certain vintage dress was worn by a famous actress in a specific old movie. I ended up watching the whole movie and then digging through auction records just to find out the dress was from a different actress entirely and she never even wore it on screen. My boyfriend kept asking if I was okay because I was sitting there at 1 AM with a notepad and my laptop, muttering about costume designers. The weird thing is I don't even care about vintage dresses normally, but once that rumor got under my skin I couldn't let it go. And like you said, you learn all sorts of random stuff when you go down those rabbit holes.
