Isn't it funny how something as boring as property records can blow a whole rumor wide open? I had a similar thing happen with a neighbor of mine years ago. A real quiet guy who kept to himself, and we all figured he was just some retired accountant or something. Then I was looking up some deed history for my own house and stumbled on his name linked to a bunch of properties across town. Turns out he was a landlord who owned half the apartment buildings on that side of town, but he never talked about it. Makes you realize how much goes on right under your nose without anyone knowing.

Property records can be surprisingly revealing... my cousin found out his quiet neighbor was a famous author that way. The guy had bought the house under his pen name. Makes you wonder what else is hiding in plain sight.
