I tracked a celebrity rumor from a TikTok video for a week and the source turned out to be a fan account in Ohio.
I saw a clip saying a famous singer was moving to Nashville, so I checked their official socials, their management's page, and even local real estate tags. The whole story started from a joke post by a fan who lives in Cleveland, and no major outlets ever picked it up. Have you ever traced a piece of gossip back to something that silly?

My friend works at a small radio station and they once ran a story about a local politician retiring. The tip came from a "source close to the family" that was just the politician's nephew messing around in a gaming Discord. It made me realize how many local stories probably start that way.

Honestly used to picture newsrooms getting these big secret tips from deep cover sources. But that gaming Discord thing makes way more sense. Like half the stuff in our town paper probably starts as a stray comment on someone's Facebook post about the new traffic light. Makes you wonder how many "insiders" are just bored relatives shooting the breeze online.

My cousin's engagement got leaked because I joked about it in a group chat.
