I used to roll my eyes at these source chains too, but then a story about a local anchor's "secret wedding" traced back to a guy who literally ran the venue's parking lot. Turns out the lot guy overheard a booking and told his barber, and the barber's cousin posted it as fact. Now I don't even doubt the cousin-of-a-desk-worker thing anymore, because the real chain is always dumber than you'd guess.
