Shoutout to the slow gossip blogs, they beat the fast ones every time
I compared following one of those instant update accounts to waiting on a smaller blog that actually calls people, and the slow one was right while the fast one was flat out wrong about a split that never happened. The fast account posted a breakup claim at 4am from one anonymous tip, and two weeks later both people were at a wedding in Santa Barbara together. Who else has seen the slow check first approach beat the breaking news rush?

I used to roll my eyes at the slow blogs, figured they were just lazy and getting scooped all the time, but stuff like this made me flip on that. That 4am anonymous tip thing is exactly the problem, speed means nothing if you're just repeating whatever some rando DM'd you. Waiting two weeks to see if two people actually show up somewhere together is boring but it's real, and being right matters more than being first. I got burned trusting a fast account one too many times, they called a divorce that also never happened, and the couple is still together posting vacation pics. Slow blogs picking up the phone is the whole difference, they actually check before they hit post.
