Unpopular opinion: I paid $75 for a 'verified' blind item newsletter and it's just repackaged Reddit rumors.

The 'exclusive' tea they sent about that pop star's divorce was already debunked on two fan forums a week prior. Anyone have a legit source that actually does real digging?

Guess they're charging for the "verified" font. Real digging is just copy-pasting from page two of Google now.

The "copy-pasting from page two" part is exactly it though. Even the ones who claim to do "deep dives" are just rehashing the same reddit threads from three years ago with a different font slapped on top. I've seen people pay $30 for a "background check" that is literally just the first result of a public records search you could do yourself in five minutes. The whole thing feels like a market for laziness more than anything else - people want to feel like they're getting secret info so they pay for the illusion of digging, not the digging itself. It's basically buying a PDF of what your neighbor could find out by asking around.

Ugh, that is so frustrating. I feel like so many of these paid services are just scams preying on curiosity. It's wild they charge that much for old gossip you can find for free. Really makes you wonder who, if anyone, is doing actual investigative work anymore.

Yeah, the "actual investigative work" part is what gets me. Feels like everyone just repackages old stuff now.
