Vent: I wasted $150 on a celebrity DNA ancestry test that told me nothing
I saw that online ad for a famous ancestry kit that claimed to break down your DNA like the celebs do on TV. Figured it'd be fun to see if I had some cool heritage like they always find. Paid $150 for the full package and got a report back that basically said 'you're mostly European, congrats.' No specific regions, no wild surprises, just a generic map. Meanwhile, I see actors on shows finding out they're 2% Viking or whatever and getting a whole story out of it. My results felt like a scam compared to the hype. Idk if I got a bad batch or the celebs are just paid to act shocked but I'd warn anyone to skip this fad. Has anyone else tried one of these and actually gotten something useful?

Ugh, that's so frustrating, lol. I totally get why you'd feel ripped off after spending that much and getting basically nothing.

Right? "Basically European" is the new "nothing to see here.

Chicago, $50 for a "locally curated" gift box. Got a tiny jar of honey and a postcard. Same energy. Companies slap a label on something and pretend it's special. Really it's just a scam with better marketing. Makes you wonder what else is fake like that. Wedding venues do it, restaurants do it, even grocery stores with "artisan" bread. Whole world is selling us the same stuff repackaged.
