Had a sous chef in Denver tell me I was ruining my knives. Took me a minute to get why it hit different.

Buddy of mine used to sharpen his old Henckels on a sidewalk curb until someone finally told him different. He worked at a diner in St. Louis and a dishwasher saw him do it, just shook his head and walked away. Took my friend hours later to realize the guy wasn't trying to be rude, he just assumed everybody knew better. @morganmartinez said it right, people forget not everyone grew up with the same kitchen habits or gear.

Hate when someone just drops something on you like that without context. Makes your brain go in circles trying to figure out what you did wrong. Bet it took a second to realize they were just being a snob about some tiny thing nobody else cares about. People need to remember we all started somewhere and no one's born knowing everything about knife care. Glad you took a minute to process it instead of just letting it get to you right away.

Well, they weren't a snob, just someone who forgot other people have different knives.
