Had to pick between a $15 heat gun and a $40 one last week

Went with the cheap one for my prep station and its already melting handles after three days, anyone else find that spending a little more on basic tools actually saves you money in the long run?

Wait til the wiring inside melts and shorts out your whole station.

That cheap tool trap is everywhere now, not just in heat guns. I've been using the same $50 kitchen knife for fifteen years while my neighbor has bought four $15 dollar ones in that time. Sometimes the more expensive item was actually built by people who know what they're doing. It's a shame we have to learn that lesson on a burned up station rather than just trusting the price tag.

Bought a cheap heat gun once. Learned my lesson when it started smoking mid-job and nearly caught my workbench on fire.
