Hit my 1,000th service ticket at the diner last week and the only thing I got was a new pen
I keep a tally on the office wall and finally crossed 1,000 tickets after 14 months at the grill in Dayton, which felt huge until the owner handed me a free ballpoint and said keep it rolling. Turns out my real reward was realizing I have flipped the same 6 egg orders roughly 8,000 times without losing my mind. Anybody else keep weird count of their own shifts, or is that just a line cook thing?

Honestly that "kept a tally on the office wall" line got me, I read somewhere that just writing down your shifts makes the grind feel more real.
