Lost $150 on a fancy fish spatula gamble, back to basics now

I bought one of those super thin, flexible fish spatulas with the angled handle thinking it would change my grill game. Paid $150 for it online, some hype brand everyone was raving about in a foodie forum. First salmon I tried to flip with it, the handle twisted and the fish fell apart into the coals. Took me three tries and a burned wrist to realize my old $8 offset spatula does the same job. Anyone else drop cash on a trendy tool that just made your station worse?
