St. Patrick's Day service last year was the worst shift of my career.
We had 86 covers on the books and 140 showed up, the dishwasher walked out at 6pm, and I burned my arm on a hotel pan trying to keep up with corned beef orders, has anyone else had a holiday service that completely fell apart on them?

86 covers on the books and 140 showed up" made me think of my buddy Mike. He worked this one New Year's Eve at a seafood place and the whole kitchen was ready for maybe 200 people tops. Right at 7pm a bus shows up with a senior center group that wasn't on the books, 45 people all wanting the special. The fryer oil caught fire ten minutes later and the manager spent half the night doing paperwork. Mike still talks about that night like a war story.

Ngl, that sounds exactly like something that would happen at a place I used to bus tables at. One time we got a surprise bus of 30 and the expo just walked into the walk-in and sat down for ten minutes.

124 people for a party of 60, @green.noah, but you learn to expect the unexpected.
