Figured out how to get my landlord to fix my heat within 24 hours

After three weeks of freezing with no response to my calls, I emailed the alderman's office and suddenly the maintenance guy showed up the next morning. Has anyone else tried getting their local rep involved for code violations?

My third floor unit flooded twice before I finally got the city involved. @danielm80 changed my mind about going through official channels.

I went through the city first and it took them 6 months just to send someone out. The alderman's office actually got things moving in 2 weeks. Might depend on how bad your landlord is though.
