Got a boot on my car near Wrigley Field last month during a Cubs game
The towing company charged me $275 cash only before they'd even tell me where they moved it. Is it worth fighting this in city court or do I just eat the cost?

City court for a boot fee? Might as well fight it, your wallet deserves the entertainment.

That court case is more about a boot than it is about the fee. City court usually handles tickets and small claims, but a boot removal charge is a private contract between you and the towing company. The city only gets involved if they broke a specific law, like having the wrong signs posted or charging more than the legal limit. If the company followed all the rules, the judge will probably just say you have to pay it. Better to check the actual city ordinances first before filing anything, because most of the time this ends up costing you more in lost work time than the $275 itself.

@gracethomas must love burning cash for fun. Paying $275 beats paying a lawyer $500 to lose.
