Had to eat crow about my parking ticket fight

I spent 6 months fighting a $120 parking ticket for a sign I swore was blocked by a tree. Took pictures every week showing the leaves covering it. Turns out I was wrong because the city has a rule about signs being visible from 50 feet away regardless of foliage. A paralegal friend read me the actual municipal code section 9-64-030 and I had to just pay it. Felt stupid but at least I know now how to check the actual rules before wasting time. Anyone else get burned by not reading the fine print on Chicago parking laws?

ngl i always thought those tree excuse arguments worked cuz i saw people win on tv court shows. but then my buddy got a ticket for a sign that was literally behind a dumpster and the judge still made him pay. turns out chicago doesnt care if you can see the sign or not, its about where the sign is posted period. learned my lesson too, now i just pay the first day even if im mad about it.
