My landlord tried to keep my security deposit over a 'smell' clause

Went back to my old building in Logan Square last week to pick up mail and saw my old unit rented out within 48 hours. Ended up in small claims over a $1200 deposit because they claimed a lingering cooking odor, which is nuts since I only made eggs and toast in that place. Got a judge who actually laughed at their invoice from a 'scent specialist' and asked if they charged by the sniff. Has anyone else beaten a bogus odor claim in Cook County, or did I just get lucky with the right courtroom?
