Shoutout to the Cook County clerk who saved my parking ticket appeal

Last month I got a $120 ticket on Milwaukee Avenue for a meter that was clearly broken. I showed up to the hearing with photos and everything, but the clerk pulled up a log showing that meter had 14 complaints that day alone. She basically told me to cite that exact record next time and handed me a form I'd never seen before. Has anyone else had a clerk give them the inside track like that, or is this just a lucky West Loop thing?

Wait, 14 complaints? Did they actually count them or is that just the ones that got written down? I'd bet the real number is way higher, people give up and walk away before filing anything. That's not a system covering its butt, that's a system that's flat out broke and nobody wants to admit it.
