Wasted $200 on a traffic lawyer who did nothing different from the public defender
Got a speeding ticket last year on I-90 near the loop. Thought hiring my own lawyer would get me off easy. Paid the guy $200 upfront. He showed up, asked for a continuance, then basically told me to plead guilty anyway. Same deal the PD offered for free. $200 down the drain. Anyone else burn cash on a private lawyer and regret it?

Well, $200 seems like a cheap lesson to learn that traffic court is mostly a game anyway.

Oh man, I once paid $150 to get out of a jaywalking ticket in a town I was just passing through. Still not sure if I got scammed or just bought my way out of a boring afternoon.
