Found a trick for creosote logs that actually works

Used one of those anti-creosote logs on a heavy buildup last Tuesday and it flaked off way easier than scrubbing. Has anyone else had luck with those or am I just getting lucky?

Right? I spent years with a wire brush and a mask feeling like I was fighting off a demon in the chimney. Now I just toss a log in and magically the creosote falls off like it owes me money. Kind of makes you wonder what else we're doing the hard way for no reason at all. Bet there's a magic log for cleaning gutters too and I'm just out here on a ladder like a fool.

Funny how that works - every time I find a shortcut that actually delivers, it makes me wonder what other dumb hard ways I've been doing things for years. Those logs seem to hit just the right chemical balance to soften the crust without needing to scrape like a maniac. Makes you realize half the "hard work" we do is just not knowing the easy trick yet.

half the hard work we do is just not knowing the easy trick yet" - I gotta disagree a little, @zara_sanchez. Sometimes the hard way is the only way to actually learn what's going on before you try to shortcut it. I've seen too many people toss a log in and skip the inspection, then wonder why their chimney still has problems a month later.
