Hit 10,000 sweeps last month and it caught me off guard
I was going through my logbook from over in Lancaster County and added up the jobs, 10,000 exactly since I started in 1992. That number just hit different, makes me think about all the roosters and squirrel nests I pulled out over the years. My knees and back sure feel every one of those flue cleanings, but I still get a kick out of the look on a homeowner's face when I show them the soot pile. Anyone else keep track of their lifetime job count or am I just the weird one with a full spreadsheet?

That 10,000 number really puts things in perspective. I read somewhere that the average chimney sweep will do maybe 800 to 1,000 jobs in a career, so you're blowing way past that. I actually heard about a guy out in Ohio who hit 15,000 last spring and his logbook was basically falling apart, he had to switch to a digital app just to keep going. The squirrel nests are the worst, I pulled one out last month that had three babies in it and the homeowner almost cried. Your spreadsheet is smart, I just count my invoices at tax time and it always feels less impressive.
