I used to think the old wire brush was the only way to clean a flue

I fought with soot and scratches for years on my usual routes around Portland. Watched a video from a guy in Seattle showing a nylon rotary brush on a drill and tried it last Tuesday on a really caked up job. Took me half the time and the mess was way less. Has anyone else tried those poly brushes for tight bends?

Wait, a nylon brush on a drill actually cut through that caked up soot without scratching everything? I've been using the old wire brush for so long I just assumed nothing else would work on those tough jobs. That's wild, might have to give it a shot next time I'm up on a roof.

Saw your post @david703 and yeah I was a total skeptic too. Used to think my wire brush was like a security blanket for me and my bad decisions. Now I'm out there with the nylon thing feeling like a pro even though I still drop my drill at least once a job.
