Shoutout to the guy who convinced me to try a poly brush over a wire one for prefab flues
I was sure the wire brush was better for getting into the corners, but after trying his method on a job in Springfield last month, the poly brush cleaned it out faster with way less dust. Anyone else made that switch and noticed a difference?

Made the switch last year. Poly brushes just move the dust out better. Less mess and gets the job done quicker.

A woodworking magazine article last spring made a good point about this. They said natural bristles can trap dust inside the brush, which you then carry to the next spot. Polyester filaments seem to let the dust slide right off the ends. It makes sense why the cleanup feels faster. You're just pushing it all in one direction without redepositing it.

So that's why my old boar bristle brush always left a faint trail behind. @charles_baker28, does the article say if the polyester filament shape matters? I've seen some with split ends and others that are straight, and they seem to push fine dust differently.
