Went with a rotary rod over a drop ball on that 60 foot liner job in Gary, and I want to warn folks
Had a nasty liner job in Gary last month and I had to pick between running the rotary rod or dropping a weighted ball to clear the old flue. I went with the rod because the flue had a bend at 20 feet and I was worried the ball would hang up, but the rod chewed up the mortar joint about halfway down and I spent an extra hour patching it. Ngl I should have run a small camera down there first instead of guessing at the shape of the flue. Anyone got a rule for when the ball is the better pick on liners with bends? I'd rather hear it from someone who has been burned worse than me.
