Hit 1,000 uploads on my channel and found my oldest thumbnail is my worst liar

I was cleaning out my analytics dashboard after lunch today and noticed I just crossed 1,000 uploads over 4 years. I scrolled back to my very first thumbnail from 2021, it promised a 'shocking secret' about a $12 gadget that literally just had an extra button. The video itself was 10 minutes of me unboxing and saying 'it works fine', no secret at all. Comparing that to my recent stuff, my click rates got better only when I stopped overpromising and just showed the actual test results. Has anyone else looked at their oldest content and realized the clickbait was doing more harm than good?

Trust builds slower but lasts way longer once you ditch the hype.
