TIL a $35 moisture meter saved my house from a mold nightmare

I bought a cheap pin-style moisture meter at Home Depot a couple months ago after a leak under my sink. Wandered into the crawlspace and poked around the joists near the bathroom and got readings in the 40s - way too wet. Turns out a slow pipe drip had been soaking the subfloor for months, and I caught it before the rot set in. Has anyone else used one of these to find hidden water damage?

Moisture meters don't sniff mold though, just wet wood.

Pretty sure @evan543 is just using it as an excuse to avoid cleaning more stuff. Mold sniffing sounds like a real skill though.
