Chose between a $2,400 heat pump and a $900 gas furnace last October, and I'm still second-guessing
My old furnace died in October and I had to pick fast before the cold hit. I went with the heat pump because of the $2,400 price after a rebate from my utility in Portland, even though my brother kept saying gas would be cheaper to run. Six months in, my electric bill jumped about $40 a month, but I'm not sure if that's the pump or just winter. Did anyone else run the numbers before switching, or did you just eat the cost for the lower emissions?
