Finally sprung for a smart thermostat after my gas bill hit $280 in January
Paid $130 for it three months ago and my last bill was only $190 even with summer AC running, has anyone else seen that kind of drop just from setting a schedule?

emma_baker61, are you sure about that? I get the appeal but honestly I think the whole smart home thing is just another way for companies to collect your data and call it a feature. Those thermostats learn your schedule but then they also sell that info to advertisers, so you're not really getting paid back. The energy savings might be small but the privacy cost is huge if you ask me. Plus, if the wifi goes out you're stuck with a dumb thermostat that can't do anything. I'd rather just program my old one and know where my data is going.
