Just realized I've been putting my recycling in plastic bags this whole time

My neighbor caught me doing it yesterday and said the sorting facility just throws the whole thing in the trash. Did anyone else not know this or am I just super late to the game?

Wait is there anything else you've been doing wrong your whole life? Honestly I feel like recycling rules are some kind of secret handshake that nobody tells you about until you mess up. I used to put my cardboard boxes in plastic bags too and my buddy who works at the dump literally laughed at me for like five minutes straight. So yeah you're not alone, we're all just out here trying to save the planet while accidentally making things worse like a bunch of clowns.

Secret handshake" is right, I read somewhere that greasy pizza boxes also ruin the whole batch.

Our local center had a sign, @kai_chen2, saying plastic bags jam their machines, so I switched to loose items.
