My city's new bike lane made a whole street worse, or did it?

Last month, Portland put in a protected bike lane on SE 12th and removed a car lane. The first week was chaos, delivery drivers double parked and buses sat stuck for 10 minutes. But by the third week, I counted 45 bikes during my morning coffee run, more than I've seen all year. My neighbor hates it and says traffic is worse, but I think it's just shifting how we measure a good street. Which side are you on, do we tolerate short term pain for long term climate wins or does this just push cars elsewhere?

Yeah, "how we measure a good street" is the real fight, we just got so used to cars being the only measurement.
