My compost tumbler lid flew off and hit me in the chest yesterday
I was giving it a good spin in my backyard in Tacoma, trying to get the pile moving, and the latch just gave out. I stood there covered in old coffee grounds and banana peels for a solid minute. What's the best way to fix a broken latch on a plastic tumbler?

Did the latch break off or just come loose?

Yeah, the "come loose" part. I saw a post somewhere saying that's usually just a screw backing out, not a full break. Easy fix if you catch it early.

Totally saw that happen with my old laptop hinge. Felt a weird wiggle for weeks before a tiny screw finally fell out onto my keyboard. Managed to thread it back in with some glue on the threads and it held for another year. Catching it early is the whole game, once the plastic around the screw post cracks you're in for a bad time.
