My contracting job shows why pushing everyone to telecommute misses the mark on climate action

I keep hearing that sending all office staff home is the best climate move, but I disagree! In my line of work, being on location is key for installing solar panels or improving building efficiency. If every person telecommuted, these physical projects that actually reduce emissions wouldn't happen. Our company uses hybrid electric trucks for site visits, which cuts more carbon than just avoiding a drive. We should encourage green practices for all types of jobs, not just favor remote setups. It's better to tailor solutions to each industry's needs!

Can't believe people forget green jobs need actual workers on site lol.

People get caught up in the tech side and forget hands-on work. Someone has to install those solar panels and wire the wind turbines. It's good, steady work that makes a real difference.
