My neighborhood switched to community composting bins and the difference is wild
We started a shared compost drop-off at the corner park back in March, maybe 30 houses joined. By July, I noticed our trash cans went from full weekly to barely half full. The pile we send to the dump dropped by around 40 pounds per household per month. Now we're feeding local gardens instead of filling up a landfill. Has anyone else tried a block-wide compost system and seen similar results?

and honestly that's kind of amazing. our block did the same thing last year and the drop in trash volume was way bigger than i expected, plus the community garden guys are always happy for the extra soil. it's one of those small changes that just makes you feel good every time you toss a banana peel in the bin.

Wait @lewis.brian did your block see a bigger drop in trash than you expected too, or was it just me?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first but it really surprised me.
