Pro tip: Found a local composting group that actually works

I was throwing out way too much food waste every week. Felt bad about it. Tried those countertop electric composters but they cost $400 and smelled weird. Then I found a neighborhood compost drop-off through a Facebook group. Costs me $5 a month. They take everything including meat and dairy. Has anyone else found good local composting options that don't break the bank?

Wait, has anyone checked if your local trash company already offers this for free? I almost signed up for a paid drop off service until I called our waste management provider on a whim. Turns out they have a whole separate yard waste bin program that includes food scraps for zero extra cost. They even give you these little compostable bags to line your kitchen container. Your $5 deal is still way better than those expensive countertop machines but I'd double check what you're already paying for with your regular garbage bill.
