Question about those 'carbon offset' subscriptions I fell for
Signed up for one of those monthly carbon offset plans for $15 a month, thinking I was doing something real. After 8 months I found out the company I used was just buying cheap credits from a reforestation project that never actually happened. Total waste of $120. Has anyone found a legit way to offset personal emissions or is it all just greenwashing?

Real talk - most of those cheap monthly offsets are just paying some middleman to promise something that never happens. Look for projects verified by Gold Standard or Verra with third-party audits you can actually access online. Did you check if the subscription company was transparent about exactly which specific projects your money was going to?

Right, because nothing says "saving the planet" like paying $5 a month for a vague promise printed on a recycled napkin. Did you ever get a straight answer out of them or just a lot of corporate jargon?
