Serious question, why does my city of Madison still mow every median down to dirt in July?
Walked past the one on Regent St yesterday and it was bare soil while the unmowed strip by the bike path was full of bees. Who do I actually email about getting a no mow zone approved?

I used to think the mowing looked tidy and that tall grass just meant the city was slacking off. Then I watched the median on Sherman Ave sit bare all summer while the weeds by the Yahara path fed bees until October, and it clicked that neat is not the same as alive. Madison has a no mow program you can ask about through the parks department or your alder, so email yours with the Regent spot as the example.
