Spent 6 months trying to get my HOA to approve solar panels

Honestly, the paperwork and back-and-forth took way longer than actually installing the panels, which was only 2 days. Has anyone else dealt with HOA roadblocks for renewable energy upgrades?

Did your HOA give you a hard time about the aesthetics or was it more about the paperwork and installation specs?

Close @the_alice but actually that percentage is closer to 3 percent according to most state laws.

the alice asked about aesthetics vs paperwork. I actually read somewhere that something like 20 percent of HOAs have flat out denied solar requests based on "visible from the street" rules. Mine was more about the paperwork nightmare, they wanted three different engineering reports and a color match for the panel frames. The installers were pretty pissed because they had to come back twice after the HOA changed their minds about conduit placement. By the time we got approval, I'd basically memorized the HOA's architectural guidelines document. Really makes you wonder who's running these things sometimes.
