The moment I realized my reusable bag habit was actually worse
So for like 4 years I've been using these thick cotton tote bags for groceries and farmer's market runs, thinking I was doing my part. Then I read a study that said you need to reuse a cotton bag 131 times before it beats a plastic bag's footprint, and I honestly never counted my uses. That tipped me off that I was probably only at 40 or 50 uses per bag before I'd lose them or they'd get stained and I'd toss them. Now I'm stuck debating whether switching to recycled plastic bags or just being hyper-disciplined with the cotton ones is better. Anyone else have that moment where their eco-friendly habit turned out to be less green than they assumed, and how did you fix it?
