Had a coolant line blow out at 3 AM in a shop outside Dallas

I was running a Haas VF-2 overnight on a big aluminum job, 50 parts total. Around 3 AM the coolant hose slipped off the fitting and sprayed everywhere, flooded the chip tray and ruined the next 3 parts because the tool temps spiked. The whole floor looked like a swimming pool by the time I noticed. Anybody got a trick for keeping those push-to-connect fittings from popping off under pressure?

Stick a zip tie behind the barb on the fitting, that's the golden rule (I've seen guys do two zip ties crisscrossed for extra peace of mind). But honestly, this kind of stuff happens everywhere, not just in shops. It's like how the cheap plastic clip on your car's air intake hose cracks at 2 AM in a gas station parking lot, or how the spray nozzle on your kitchen sink shoots off when you're washing a cast iron pan. There's always some little part that's supposed to hold everything together, and it's the one thing that fails right when you're not watching. The trick is to treat every fitting like it's already trying to betray you, and give it a little extra backup before it proves you right.

Those push-to-connect fittings are notorious for popping off when the hose gets a little stiff or the pressure spikes. Try using a small zip tie right behind the barb on the fitting to keep the hose from sliding back. It saved me a few messes back when I ran an old Fadal.
