Had a finish pass gouge my part by 0.015" because I forgot to recalculate tool comp after a changeover

Was running some 304 stainless in Philly last Wednesday and the insert in my finishing rougher was chipped, so I swapped it quick without checking the offset. The replacement had a slightly different nose radius and it dug into the final pass, scrapping a $400 job. Has anyone else had this bite them with random insert variations?

Well now, that's why I always measure my inserts before I set the comp.

Betty's right about measuring before setting comp. @betty_perry24 that insert swap snags me more than I wanna admit. Gotta double check radii or it'll cost ya.

The 0.5mm radius difference on a recent job taught me that one. I used to just eyeball it and hope for the best, totally wrong approach. Betty's method of measuring first is the only way to avoid redoing a whole setup.
