I spent $400 on a fancy coolant filter and it was a total waste

Everyone at my shop in Dayton kept saying a high-end micron filter would save my pumps and give a better finish. I got the 'ClearFlow Pro' model last month. My old setup with regular screens and a settling tank worked just as well, and now I'm stuck cleaning this complex thing every week. Has anyone else found these filters to be more trouble than they're worth?

Man, I feel that. I bought a similar setup last year thinking I was being smart, and @fionafoster is right about the cleaning hassle. My dumb self spent more time taking it apart than I ever saved on pump wear.

Ugh, that's the worst. Those sales pitches make it sound like magic, but half the time it's just extra work for zero real gain. I bet the shop guys pushing it get a kickback or something. They never mention the constant cleaning hassle, just the "better finish" fantasy. Feels like a total scam for most small shops.

Sounds about right for a "time saving" tool.
