Ran the same finish pass .015 deep for 3 years until a scrap pile made me check the feed chart
I was scrapping about 1 in 5 parts on a 316 stainless run and blaming the tool holder for weeks. A guy from second shift pointed at my finish pass and said I was pushing .015 depth with a feed rate meant for .005, so the insert was rubbing instead of cutting. I pulled the chart out of the drawer and there it was in black and white, and the finish came out glass smooth after I backed off. Some guys say run light and slow to play it safe, others say trust the chart and let the insert bite. Which side are you on, and did a scrap pile ever teach you something the paperwork already showed you?
