Spindle speed override set me back $600 on a job last month

Left the override knob at 120% by accident on a run of 40 aluminum parts in Dayton and scraped half of them before I caught it. Anyone else had a mis-set override cost them big, and do you lock it out in the program or just tape the knob?

Yeah, the 120% on aluminum is brutal, that's basically the fastest way to turn a good part into a fire drill. I started putting an M01 after the speed change on the first part of a run, and then a big stop right before the critical ops. Also, I tape the knob with a little flag that says "SET THIS BACK" on it, but the real fix was I finally wired the override to a physical switch that's off at like 90% unless I'm watching it. We still have the knob on the panel for adjustments, but the program forces a full stop if the speed is above a certain percent for more than a few seconds. That saved me on a similar job with 60 titanium parts, cost me time but not a stack of scrap.
