Vent: bumped my feed and speed 15 percent on 6061 and the finish got worse
Was fighting chatter on a 3/4 inch end mill in some 6061 plate last Tuesday, so I tried bumping the rpm from 4000 to 4600 and feed from 40 to 46 ipm, and the finish came out way worse, all smeared and gummy looking. Turns out the extra heat was just sticking chips to the cutter, went back to my old numbers and added a little more coolant and it cleaned right up. Anyone else had a bump that backfired like that, or is it just me overthinking the chip load?
