At a Python study group last Tuesday, one guy told me that memorizing syntax was the only way to learn - I argued back that building tiny projects sticks way better.

I spent 20 minutes explaining how I learned loops by making a dummy to-do list app, and he just kept repeating that flashcards were superior - has anyone else had someone insist their rigid method is the only method?
