DAE have a local spot where people learn to code together?

I was at the park near my apartment yesterday, and there was a small crowd with laptops under the big oak tree. At first I thought it was a picnic, but then I heard someone explaining how to write a function in JavaScript. They have this informal club every Saturday for absolute beginners, no experience needed. One woman told me she joined to make a website for her dog walking service, and now she can fix basic issues herself. It's funny because I remember when coding seemed like something only tech people did in offices. Having it happen right here in the community makes it feel less scary to start. I might even drop by next week, though my own computer skills are pretty much just for scheduling cleanings.

After @andrewwilliams posted about his neighbor, my friend tried learning HTML.

Our library ran a free Python group last year, and my neighbor went from zero to building a simple order tracker for his side hustle. Seeing people learn together really takes the mystery out of it.

That free Python group... turning neighbors into coders, @andrewwilliams.

My library had a basic web design meetup. We started by making a terrible page about our favorite pizza toppings. It was just HTML and a little CSS, but seeing my ugly site next to someone else's ugly site made it click. The group leader showed us how to fix one small thing each week, like centering a photo. That slow, shared progress kept me from quitting.
