Heard a guy in line at Micro Center say he learned Python by retyping other people's scripts, so I gave it a shot for 10 days
I was standing in line at Micro Center in Chicago last weekend and the guy ahead of me was telling his friend he never watched a full tutorial. He just grabbed small scripts off GitHub and typed them out line by line to see what broke. I figured that sounded easier than another 4 hour video, so I tried it for 10 days straight, 30 minutes a night. Typing it out by hand is way slower than copy paste, but I actually remember what a for loop does now instead of just nodding along. On day 6 I broke a script that scrapes weather data and had to read the error message myself, which felt like a big deal. Anyone else learn better by retyping stuff instead of watching videos? Or am I just wasting time that way?
