Paid $180 for a beginner Python course and then found the same stuff free on YouTube
I signed up for a 6 week Python course back in March because I wanted to automate some spreadsheets for my pest control routes. The instructor was fine but it was all pre recorded videos from 2019 and the "projects" were just copying what he typed. About week 3 I got stuck on loops and searched the exact lesson name on YouTube and found a free 12 hour video that explained it way better in 20 minutes. I finished the paid course but only because I didn't want to feel like I threw $180 in the trash. The certificate they gave me is a PDF with my name typed on it, nothing official. Now I use free sites like freeCodeCamp and Automate the Boring Stuff and I've learned more in 2 weeks than in that whole course. If you're just starting out, do the free stuff first and only pay if you really need a live teacher. Did any of you actually finish a paid course and feel like it was worth it, or did you bail halfway like I almost did?
