Signed up for a Python class at the library in Akron and quit after 4 sessions because the teacher kept saying "just copy this"
I enrolled in a beginner Python class at the Akron public library about six weeks ago. It was $40 for eight sessions, Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm, and I figured that was a good deal since I know nothing about writing code. The teacher was a retired guy who clearly knew his stuff, but every time someone asked why a line worked, he would say "just copy this down for now, it'll make sense later." I asked three separate times about why we used a colon after certain lines and never got a real answer. By session four, half the room had stopped showing up, and I noticed the guy next to me was just photographing the projector screen with his phone instead of typing anything. I dropped out after that and got my $20 back for the unused sessions. Now I'm wondering if this is just how all beginner classes go, or if I should try a free online course instead. Has anyone actually finished one of these library coding courses, and did it ever click for you?
