Unpopular opinion: freeCodeCamp beat the $12 Udemy course for me and it wasn't close
So back in January I paid $12 for one of those big Udemy web dev courses on sale, and I also started freeCodeCamp the same week just to compare. The Udemy guy talked for 40 minutes before I typed a single line, while freeCodeCamp had me writing actual HTML in like 10 minutes flat. By day 14 I had finished the first cert project on freeCodeCamp and was still on section 3 of the video course. The paid course had nicer production, but the browser editor and instant feedback made stuff stick way better for me. Some folks say you need a structured video course or you'll miss the basics, others say just build and Google the gaps. Which camp are you in, and did a paid course ever beat the free stuff for you?
A 40 minute intro before one line of code is wild, the guy basically charged you $12 to watch a podcast. Free stuff wins when it makes you type right away instead of making you listen. I did pay for one course once and it was fine, but only because I already knew what to skip.
